The Program
Pregnancy is a very life changing time, and many times, when circumstances are unable to provide the proper happy stigma’s centered around pregnancy, things get challenging for women. Pregnancy is a very reflective stage in which a mother focuses on past situations and behaviors, and how to improve that in the future for her and her child(ren). Therefore, Lotus Loft embarks to efficiently cultivate life skills, and utilize this time as one that will strengthen her with improved decisions.
Lotus Loft has found that our niche is serving mothers who are able to bring in their previously born children into the program, a luxury that many other places are not able to offer.
Working with different community partners, such as employment agencies, governmental institutions, early head start programs, we push her forward with the proper resources. Through employment programs, that provide resume building, and assist with locating descent employment, our mothers form a sense of pride and self – confidence.
She works towards a savings goal and will pay into an account annually. She works over the course of several months toward financial independence. She then can graduate out of our program and officially move on to all life has for her & her family.

– Intake
When we receive a call, we ask for the current situation this woman is enduring (Domestic Violence / Crisis Pregnancy / Homelessness). We try to understand her background as well as tell her the basis of the program.
– Application Process / Ground Rules
If accepted, the woman is introduced to the Lotus Loft Leadership and begins the application process, which goes over her Personal Background. She then goes over House Rules and what is grounds for eviction. She signs and initials that she is in full agreement and will honor all rules.
– Goals and Resources Questionnaire
The resident is given a questionnaire that asks what resources she is in need of most. She then fills out the goals sheet, listing her short term and long-term goals.
– Finding Resources
With the Director sitting with her, we proceed to give the resident a list of resources offered by our community partners for her to contact and make appointments with. She is responsible for attending appointments, meeting with the connections laid out to her and maintaining good relationships with them. The Director monitors very closely.
– Working towards Goals / Attending Classes / Empowering
The resident meets with the resources that were allocated to her, to ensure she has all that she needs to accomplish success. The resident is required to attend Weekly General Sessions by way of character building, emotional stability, parenting, financial and budgeting, nutrition and wellness, etc.
– Employment
Lotus Loft requires that the resident holds down full-time work, therefore saving, in which Lotus Loft monitors. This is called their Landmark Savings Account. She works towards her savings goal set by her and the Lotus Loft team.
– Transition
Once some saving goals are met, and self-growth is evident, we aid in finding long term housing. The resident uses the money she has saved for and / or eared through employment.
– Finding Long Term Stability / Graduation
Lotus Loft aims to make the transition period as smooth as possible for the resident and their children. On the final day, the Housing Director meets with the resident, and goes over what goals were met, and gives resources to help her reach her long-term goals. A formal graduation is held to celebrate this major milestone!
– Follow Up on Case
A Lotus Loft Team Member will keep calling every 15 – 20 days after discharge, to see how the former resident is following through on long term goals, and if she has access to adequate resources. While we only house once, the former resident can still attend classes and have some resources made available to her through Lotus Loft.
* The ideal candidate for Lotus Loft is one that carries a good work ethic, takes ownership of her future and is grateful for all that is offered to her. Lotus Loft is a temporary housing program meant to help alleviate short-term difficulty. We do our part by pushing them forward and setting them up for long term success. They ideally stay 3 to 4 months in our program.
